WHITE SUPREMACY
The United States was built on the idea of white supremacy. If that statement had a status on social media, it would be "It's complicated." That statement, and those similar to it, invoke a variety of responses in people. There are those that agree with it and are willing to explain why they believe this using historical fact. There are those that deny it. Maybe they don't believe racism is as prevalent as others claim or that "that is just the way things were back then". Whatever the reason, they just want to sweep it under the carpet and forget about it. The past is, after all, the past. Finally, there are those who believe that the United States should be a solely white country because "white" is the superior race, and they are more than ready to back it up with "proof" in the way of biblical quotes.
This history of white supremacy starts with colonization and slavery and it still exists today and ends somewhere in the future of science fiction. It might be important now to define racism and compare it to white supremacy.
